Day 30 - Home

Miles driven: 300
Total miles: 5,119

Random fact: Our total trip miles for this one month trip (5,119), is almost exactly half the total trip miles of our two month trip in 2016 (10,282).

I was likely the only person with mixed emotions about this last day of our trip. I am thankful to have Saturday and Sunday to chill and acclimate to being home. I went back to work the day after we got home from our two month trip two years ago. It was killer.

I know how much I will miss eating all of our meals together and the simplicity of not having a schedule of appointments. Ah well. All good things end at some point. And of course it will be nice to be home for many reasons such as:

Mom: Friends and Family; Knowing where things are at the grocery store; No more truck stops;  High capacity washer and dryer in my home that I don’t have to share with strangers.

Caleb: To have my own space; to not have to wait to get dressed because someone is in our bedroom

Cameron: Seeing friends and family

Grace: My bed and a book (she read everything we brought)

Matt: Chevelle

[I cannot believe no one said WiFi.]

We spent some time this morning emptying cupboards that are not easily accessed when the slideouts are pulled in. This will make emptying the camper later today much quicker. With a heat index close to 108 today, quick is exactly what we want. (We were spoiled by very comfortable temperatures this entire trip...the Midwest heat and bugs may be too much for us.)

[Notice the black tape still holding the refrigerator door closed...never did get that part. We only had to tape it while going down the road; it stayed closed and sealed while we were parked.]

Kids bedroom with no sheets.

We had to cross over the interstate as we left the campground. See the trees to the right of the semi? Our camper was parked directly on the other side of those trees. So perfect.

And finally we see the sign for 80 west to Davenport. Exciting.

This time we just drove by the world’s largest truck stop. But it was a fun memory of our first day of the trip.

And then we were home. Another epic adventure in the books. Until next time...
