Day 29 - Fixing a truck

We woke up today planning another trip into Yosemite. Matt decided to rotate his tires in the campground parking lot before we left. He came back to the camper with the news that the left front hub assembly was broke. (He suspected that something wasn't quite right as we had heard a noise that was bothersome.) He would need to find a part and figure out how to get the part so he could fix it. We would not be going to Yosemite today, and he would spend the day fixing the truck. Poor Dad.

Of course we were at a campground with no cell service and the wi-fi was spotty. Looking up parts stores and making calls would be tough. He finally found the part at a NAPA in a town an hour away. He had to borrow a phone to call them.

He then asked around to see if anyone was headed that way who could give him a ride. No such luck. So he finally decided to put the truck back together and drive it. He would bring all of his tools and fix it in the NAPA parking lot and drive it home. I wasn't crazy about the idea, but it appeared to be our only option.

While Dad was gone, we went swimming and started a batch of Hunter's Stew.

While swimming, the kids found a little frog in the pool. It floated around with Grace for awhile. (Shout out to Brenda's Daiseys and Fight Like a Mann! Grace always wears her bracelets.)

Matt was able to fix the truck as planned and drive it home. It was a long day for him. For dinner we had stew ready that had been cooking all afternoon. It seemed to hit the spot.

Tomorrow we are moving on to San Francisco. We hated to miss a day in Yosemite, but we were very thankful that Matt noticed the problem and could fix it so quickly. It might have been a much different story if it had broke going down the road pulling a camper.
