After a few busy days with hot temps and a lot of driving, we decided to hang out and enjoy the campground today. The kids were really happy to hear this. They were not too excited to get back in the truck. Matt and I felt the same way.
We slept in, made breakfast, and hung out by the pool.
We read books and magazines.
The kids sat chatting like this for quite awhile.
We did load up to head to the grocery store in Groveland 9 miles away. It was an impressive little grocery store for a small town. Good prices and awesome organic produce selection.
We ended the day with s'mores. Just what the doctor ordered.
This will sound odd, but when planning the vacation, I saw this week as a vacation within our vacation. I knew the campground was simple but nice. I knew we would be parked for 5 nights. And I knew we would be seeing Yosemite, which was, in some ways, what started this whole trip idea anyway. We wanted to go to Yosemite on vacation and realized that by the time you drive there you have passed a lot of other great national parks. Even though we will mark our halfway point while we are here (and we don't want this trip to end!), we could not be more excited to be here.
